What is included, and what is not?
- Included: the car and an English-speaking driver, fuel, tolls, parking, waiting time, bottled water, child seats on request; on multi-day trips also the driver's room and meals.
- Not included: your hotels and meals, park and museum tickets, the Kaindy shuttle, a licensed guide (+$120 a day).
- Night pickups at airports between 23:00 and 06:00 add $10–20 per car; there is no extra charge for early starts on day trips.
Per person or per car?
Aggregators and tour sites often show prices "from $40 per person" for group tours with 15–20 people. Our prices are per car. Two people in a sedan on a $230 city day pay $115 each; four people in a minivan on a multi-day trip pay $80 each per day. From three travellers up, a private car usually costs about the same as seats on a group tour — and it leaves when you want.
Season and demand
Prices are the same all year: we do not add a summer surcharge. What changes is availability: from late June to August and in the New Year and ski weeks, book 2–4 weeks ahead. In winter some roads (Assy, Kegen border) close, and mountain days need a 4x4 with winter tyres.
Examples: 7, 10 and 14 days
- 7 days around Almaty (Charyn, Kolsai, Kaindy, Altyn-Emel) in a minivan: about 7 × $320 = $2,240, or the fixed 5-day tour from $1,510.
- 10 days, Almaty to the Silk Road in a sedan: about 10 × $250 = $2,500 plus one flight.
- 14 days with Kyrgyzstan in a 4x4: about 14 × $380 = $5,320; the fixed 7-day loop is $2,600 for a 4x4.
Tipping
Tips are not expected but appreciated: 5–10% of the day rate, or 2,000–5,000 tenge a day on long trips, handed to the driver at the end.
