When should I leave for Almaty airport?
For an international flight from Terminal 2, be at the airport 3 hours before departure; for a domestic flight from Terminal 1, 2 hours. From the centre, plan to leave 3.5–4 hours before an international departure on weekday mornings and evenings (rush hour is roughly 08:00–10:00 and 17:30–19:30, and Al-Farabi and the Eastern bypass can crawl), and about 3.5 hours at night, when the road is empty and the drive takes 20–25 minutes. Snow days add 15–30 minutes. Tell us the flight number and we suggest a pickup time.
Can I book a 3 am or 4 am pickup?
Yes. Night departures are the norm at ALA, and our drivers work around the clock with a booking. The driver messages you on WhatsApp the evening before and again when he is outside; you get his name, phone and car plate in advance. Between 23:00 and 06:00 the fare is $10 more per car. Hotels often cannot call a reliable taxi at that hour, and app prices jump at night, so a fixed booking is the calm option.
Which terminal, and what about the return trip?
International flights use Terminal 2 (opened in June 2024), domestic flights Terminal 1; the driver drops you at the right door. Arriving in Almaty too?
